My practice areas cover patent application drafting and prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), trade secret protection, patentability opinions, freedom to operate analyses,, due diligences, landscape analyses, Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs), litigation support and licensing support. I also support Chinese companies who seek to protect their intellectual property in the United States and/or work with U.S. companies.
I have technical expertise in both large molecules and small molecules, including antibodies, CAR-Ts, vaccines, peptides, nucleic acid-based therapies, and small molecule enzyme inhibitors. I also have technical expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I have filed over 200 patent applications and prosecuted several hundreds of patent families world-wide covering compositions of matter, process development, and drug formulations.
In terms of representative cases, I have prosecuted patents related to early stage drug development candidates through products such as VAXNEUVANCE, RECARBRIO, and INVANZ. I also led the patent due diligence for a $900 million acquisition related to a novel antibody platform and led the patent due diligence on a $100 million strategic collaboration related to mRNA vaccines. I have provided support for IPRs related to a vaccine product launch and litigation support for a small molecule antibiotic.
I graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and the University of Southern California with a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Biochemistry. I hold a bar license in New York and am a Registered Patent Attorney before the USPTO. I am a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
